April 20, 2010 BCP Council Meeting
Council in attendance: Dave Ross, Erin Ross, Bob Johnson, Sandi Stephens, Lane Suarez and Susan Thoms.
Audience attendance: Jack Bute, Vikki Phelps, Nikki Steele, Robert Durand, Penny Ripple.
Dave Ross requested one person speak at a time; be kind when addressing others; and turn cell phones off.
Production Orders: Penny addressed. A form has been created that will be distributed to all departments affected entailing all details of either the contract or the proposal. Susan has put this document to its first use for Love Letters. As this form is put in use for this production, we will address any additions/deletions that may need to be made.
Sabino: Lane addressed. The Minister of Labor states Sabino must be paid 2.5 times his regular amount on Sundays and must have one day off a week. Dave, Jerry, Jack and/or Amelia will discuss with Anayansi the possibility of a security system versus a security guard, as stated in our contract. Manuel is launching a business in San Francisco Plaza similar to a Brinks Home Security. They will respond to alarms via motorcycle with an armed person.
Ed Sullivan: Penny addressed. All is coming along well and she’s ready for Friday night.
Karaoke: Dave addressed. Dave stated we will require more time to publicize the next monthly karaoke event. Dave will speak with Jerry Gaspar regarding reaching more Panamanians to attend. For now, publicity will remain as it is.
Inventory/Items on loan: Anything loaned out, which should only be the scaffolding, goes to Mary Lynah. In house items: Nikki. Secretary should keep this information. We’re still hunting down the keyboard.
Radio Show: Dave addressed. A weekly radio show is not something we’re in the position to pursue at this time. Dave sent a message to the station.
Maintenance/Upgrades: Bob Johnson addressed. Jack is hammering out the punch list. Jack requested approval for $300 for the ditch and trench outside the parking lot gate. Approved.
THANK YOU, Mary Feldbruegge, for re-painting the wall.
Nikki/Vicki fill-in: Penny will take e-mails during the 2 weeks that both Nikki and Vicki will be unavailable. She will forward as appropriate. Opening and closing for Hospice and Rotary: it was suggested Jerry Hedrick and Mary Feldbruegge be asked to assist. Bob J. will take the 2 Tuesday Morning Meetings. Susan will do IMPROV. Sandi will do the Happy Hour. Karaoke and Potluck: Dave & Erin. Any rental requests will go to Dave. May IMPROV and Happy Hour is cancelled due to Love Letters. Acting classes will end the week of May 15.
Rate Schedule: Unless a BCP Activity Club, which is charged $1 per person, the fee is $2 per person or $25, whichever is greater. Now we have a better feel for the types of requests coming in for the theatre’s use, we should re-address the rates, then seek Anayansi’s approval. The committee to address the rates will consist of Bob, Nikki and Dave.
University/Adult Edu: Nikki presented proposal for Mark Perren-Jones to give a seminar on neck/back pain on May 5th at 10am. Discussion ensued. Proposal approved.
Love Letters: Susan addressed proposal. Have recruited Dan & Agniya for lights & sound; Dana co-directing. Ticket price will include the show and 4 hors d’eouvres and a glass of wine. Tickets price still to be determined.
Wholesale liquor: Jack will discuss this option with Anayansi.
Team Building: Everyone agreed the last session was quite beneficial to the team and would like to have another. We would prefer to include all people involved closely with the council, however, Vicki and Nikki will be gone and Susan’s schedule is packed. Dave will attempt to arrange a time with Bev which will be convenient for everyone and include as many of us as possible.
Gratitude Corner: Penny addressed. She requested approval for a Gratitude Corner on our blog. She also requested names of people we’d like to see in this space. Please provide her with names and the support/work that they’ve done.
Lockboxes: Bud got us 2 more lockboxes which Dave will place in strategic locations and the remainder of the keys will no longer be kept hidden where we hid it.
Gardening tools: We approved money be spent for the purchase of a weed whacker, gas can, extension cord and spray pump.
Meeting adjourned 3:19pm
