BCP MEMBERSHIP MEETING JULY 1, 2010
Dave Ross called the meeting to order at 1:05. All council members were present except Susan Thoms. Minutes of the last meeting were approved with minor corrections.
Lane thanked Bob Johnson for his help in her absence, Jerry Gaspar and Shirley for ticket sales and bar deposits. Lane will move $1500 to savings. We have a profit of about $1000 YTD. We no longer need $300 a month for Sabino, so Lane suggested that we spend this on maintenance.
Dave reported that Anayansi may owe us some money on the parking lot project. Some dirt is piled up and is causing a problem with drainage.
Erin reported that we are getting more new members at events. The list has been cleaned of members who have not renewed since 2008.
Victoria Van Pelt presented a proposal for a “Star of Fame” for deceased supporters of BCP. Stars would hang on a tree, and the family would have to propose the member for consideration. The council liked this idea, and Victoria will work more on the plan.
Premature Corpse will run July 8, 9, 10. Penny did the programs, which look great, and sold $200 in ads. She has added new packages for program and website ads.
Allen Lewis is doing maintenance, and did a great job on the set for Premature Corpse. The entrance to the stairs from the parking lot needs improvement, and we need to take down the handicap sign from the front gate. The parking lot needs work. $300 a month will go to maintenance and monitoring of the alarm system.
Dave will work on a policy for reserving the stage for major productions so that sets will not have to be moved. We can store long-term items in Sabino’s old room and current production items in the Green Room.
Bob reported on his fund-raising activities. One person will donate when he sells his business. One potential donor is ill. Another said she wants an English production done at Ortema. She wants a proposal to take to her board. If we do a production in David, she will make an annual contribution of $500. The board declined this request.
Penny did a review of her sponsorship program.
Leara has been nominated for Creative Director. She talked to the council about her experience and her philosophy. She has an acting class starting July 12, which has 10 people signed up.
There is a thank you from Manolito‘s father on the blog. They did well on contributions at his performances. DVDs and CDs are coming.
We are still waiting on more info from LEAF on the use of the baby grand if we decide to take it.
New Bookings: Carrie Fisher is setting up a meeting in the Hex Room for the art co-op. Mary reported that the musicians who performed at Newton Osborne’s want to perform at the theater the next time they come to Boquete.
We have the new community bulletin board up on the patio.
