BCP MEMBERSHIP MEETING
June 3, 2010
Dave Ross called the meeting to order. All members of the Council were present except for Lane who is away. Eight other members were present. The minutes from the last meeting were approved with one name change.
Erin reported that we have 256 paid up members. Penny Ripple suggested that we make it possible for members to pay on line. This might help with payment by members who are away.
Susan Thoms’ production of Love Letters was a big success. We had $1380 in ticket sales which provided much needed income.
The culvert is working OK but the other end needs to be opened up. Bob and Jack will investigate price and ease of installing a grate over the top for safety. We could have a problem with the new dam along the river constructed by the city. Most of the water still comes from the Feria. Bob suggested that we hire a handyman for some projects.
Anayansi says that work on the river should be finished in a week and she can start on the parking lot. She will give us a date as soon as she knows.
Erin reported that we had 25 people for karaoke last night. No karaoke in July as the Hansels will be out of town.
Vicki reported that we have 3 bookings in June, one for the piano concerts for 2 days and two for the school. We get the remaining tickets for the concerts to sell June 11 after the parents’ have sold tickets to their family and friends. In July we have a booking for AIV teacher forum, and July 31 a booking for Bob Applegate’s comedy night.
LEAF may donate a baby grand piano to BCP with the stipulation that students from Hogar Trisker can use it for lessons and practice. We will get more information before we decide.
Bob reported a profit from Love Letters of about $1000.
Penny Ripple asked the council to review the proposal for lobby sponsors for the next meeting.
Dave reported that the alarm is set but the company is not yet up and running
Susan has reviewed Leara’s play and thinks she needs to work on it more to adapt it to the stage. She is out of the country. Erin will get some other people to read it as well.
Lynne has hired a gardener, and we have purchased a weed-wacker.
Penny R needs information from Council members for the VAIO computer. Bring on stick, CD or e-mail.
Itzel Velasquez is doing 15 minute broadcasts on Radio Chiriqui, once a week for BCP. She was welcomed with appreciation.
Dave wants to produce a jam session once a month where musicians can come and sit in. Minimal charge with open bar. Penny said an evening with Andre Rieu CD’s. She knows of a rear and forward projector worth $7000 that is available for $1500. Susan will ask Dan Grieve to examine it. Amelia has an agreement with BCP to use half of the profits from the Broadway Review for a projector. Susan will schedule a screen day with Dan.
Erin said that the membership banner will be ready to pick up tomorrow.
By-laws changes: We agreed that terms for the President, Secretary and Treasurer will be for two years. All other terms will be for one year. We approved seven positions on the board with new titles of Operations Director, Creative Director, and Marketing Director. One technical change will be made by deleting conflicting language.
Meeting adjourned.
Mary Lynah, Secretary
