The Renovation

The vision and very hard work of a group of Boquete resident volunteers took a dilapidated, empty building and created a miracle of transformation. The community can never give enough thanks to this group, in their gift to the community of a theatre and events center that meets a number of needs to round out the spirit of community that makes Boquete so special.

THE TEAM…Sandi Stephens, Lane Suarez, Jerry Hedrick, Jack Butte, Erin Ross and Susan Thoms…and there were many, many more unpictured heros of the BCP Renovation To give you an idea of the work involved, we should first let you see the building as it was the day the lease was signed.

Plans were drawn up, planning meetings were held, and excitement built through the long renovation period.

Every good project starts with a gathering of people. . .

And finally, the plans were unveiled for everyone to see. After cleaning up and before beginning, a celebration was held!

With this vision in mind, the work began in earnest! Materials and labor were donated by members and the community, and things began to take shape.

The Lobby Lounge included a big window overlooking the river. The patio surrounding the new Hexagon Room took shape.
The theatre began to take shape where there had only been open space. Fixed, flexible seating was added thanks to a generous resident’s donation in exchange for some seats at future performances

The stage was built, and the ceiling installed.

The Hexagon Party Room was almost complete….we were getting there!
Side patio was also taking shape.

The new sign was installed.

Finally…..it’s time for the Grand Opening Celebration & Dedication….a time when all the hard work came together in a finished facility.

Beautiful plaques were installed and the building was dedicated by Bud Huber, one of BCP’s most generous donors.

Now, Boquete has a beautiful, well equipped place for theatre productions, concerts, the Tuesday Morning Meeting & Market, parties, weddings, dances and any number of community activities! Thanks to all those with the vision to create, the willingness to work hard, and the generosity of heart to share this amazing space with our community.

Thanks to the heart and spirit of local businesswoman Anayansi Menéndez, the BCP Events Center will be serving the community for many years to come.
