It takes a lot of people to create a good community theatre. Every task at Boquete Community Players is performed by a volunteer. Here are a few descriptions of the various volunteer jobs.
At the bottom of this page there is a volunteer application for you to fill out to let us know of your interest and the areas in which you would like to participate. Check as many boxes as you like and we'll contact you as soon as possible. Thank you.
On Stage
The most visible volunteers are the actors, singers, dancers, and musicians on the stage. Many of them enjoy their first stage experience at BCP. Talented people of all ages perform in our productions; no special training or experience is required. Acting is taught during the rehearsal process.
Backstage Technical Crews
Although the tech crews are not seen onstage, they are an essential part of every production. These volunteers build the scenery, paint the set pieces and backdrops, hang the lights, record the sound effects, sew or coordinate wardrobe and find the props. During rehearsals they provide support and assistance to the performers and director. During the performance they move the scenery and props during scene changes, help the actors with costume changes and ensure the performance runs smoothly.
Sounds and Lights
Volunteers are needed who can assemble sound effects and music for a show. Once the sound is designed, and the lighting instruments are hung and gelled, a sound tech runs the audio control board for the show and a lighting tech is needed at the controls of the lighting control board.
House Managers / Ushers
Looking after the comfort and safety of our audience is the responsibility of these volunteers. The House Manager serves as the head usher during performances. Several ushers are needed for each performance to handle tickets, help patrons to their seats before the show, help with intermission as needed, and help to ensure the safe and orderly exit of the auditorium at the end of the performance.
General Duties
Volunteers perform many of the tasks necessary to keep our Community theatre running smoothly. They help with box office, marketing, publicity, phones, office work, special events, and social functions.
